Position 1: Built Environment System lab has an opening for a PhD/MSc student to join its research group starting from Sept. 2025. In this role, the PhD/MSc student will conduct measurement and experimental-based studies to improve indoor air quality. What Is Required: 1. Recent Master/Bachelor degree in relevant Science or Engineering fields or equivalent. 2. Hands-on experience with the analytical instrument: GC/MS, HPLC, and so on. 3. Familiarity with building science principles and technologies that impact indoor air quality and energy use. 4. Demonstrated ability to write high-quality technical publications. 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Position 2: We are looking for another PhD/MSc student starting from Sept. 2025 with the following backgrounds: Applicants with a degree majoring in mechanical engineering from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta. Applicants with research experience in renewable HVAC systems are highly welcomed. Experimental and numerical experience is an asset.
Long-term: Built Environment System lab hires graduate students who are independent, self-motivated, and passionate about the sustainable indoor environment in green buildings. The positions are open to students not only from mechanical engineering but also general engineering and science background, such as chemical engineering, civil engineering, building engineering, electrical engineering, etc. Applicants with research experiences in HVAC systems, indoor air quality, green buildings, or other related research areas are highly welcomed. Hands-on experience on catalyst sythesis and characterization is an asset.
